hey,
so tomorrow is the day! kids will be here!
the last month has been divided into set up and then training, so it has been a long time in a big camp with just staff. I am currently on time off, we have had a little bit of time to refresh before we start, most of the staff either spent thier time in ashland, duluth, or stayed headed home if they didnt live too far away. it was so nice to put our "weekend off" clothes on and relax.
We will start off the summer kind of short staffed, but have chosen to just kick on with who we have. We have been a little unlucky in staffing, but the staff we do have right now have been amazing in picking up how camp runs and what goes on.it should be fine, just a bit more work between a few more people. My first trip this summer will be down to the apostle islands, just west of bayfield. I will have a co counselor and a nice small group of kids so i cant wait! As trip counselor, we have been reviewing our trip program progression in general, and are so excited to be doing the trips were doing this year, and also have a tonne of ideas and locations for new trips next year.
We also just recently moved into the platform tents, it is so nice to be back in those. They are so big and cool at night, which is awesome after how hot it is here during the days.
Well its back to work at 6pm so until i write more,

Finally Here!
Phew! Plane ride is over! and i am finally back at camp!! i have been so excited to come back, counting down the days since 130 to go. Camp Northwoods is an amazing place to be, it is pretty rustic but it really feels like home so easily. Me and a few other counselors arrived at camp late last night, and spent today writing list upon list of things that need to be done before we host a number of girl scout troops who will be here at various times until the start of next week. It is a bit daunting thinking of everything that we have to do, but there are another few counselors coming tomorrow, i am sure we will be fine :) I will defintely give a better description of camp when i have a little more time and a little less jet lag, so until then, happy travels :)
